Tune in Monthly for our "Basic Truths"

There are certain foods that are dangerous to dogs; even in small amounts, certain foods can spell serious trouble for your dog.  It's important to know what to avoid.  Grapes and raisins are at the top of the list of harmful treats you don't want Fido to consume.  It is not recommended to give your dog ham or turkey bones; perhaps avoid all bones from your dining table.  Any change in diet can cause stomach upset.  Fatty foods can have repercussions down the line for dogs; just as in our diets.  Chocolate and dogs do not mix.....dark chocolate being the worst.  Macadamia nuts are not recommended.  Other foods to avoid; avocados, onions, gum, candies, baked goods sweetened with artificial sweetener.  The most dangerous thing a dog can get into is our human medications; i.e. that dropped pill on the floor.  Dogs are indiscriminate eaters!  If your dog ingests something toxic; call the Animal Poison Control Center 1-888-426-4435  SIMPLY PUT....KEEP IT NATURAL FOR FIDO!

Just a thought.........

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PET FOR YOU

Think carefully about what you and your family want from a pet: A quiet companion? An active playmate?
A family friend?
Every breed of dog is unique and each individual pet is different.
When choosing a pet, consider these questions:
Am I a patient person?
How much of my income can I spend on a pet?
Do I want an active or passive pet?
How much time do I have to spend caring for a pet?

PLEASE CONSIDER THESE EXPENSES THAT MAY BE INCURRED

DURING THE LIFETIME OF A PET:

Spay/Neuter Surgery                                                         Boarding / Grooming
Adoption Fee (If dealing with the Animal Shelter)               Worming
Vaccinations / Yearly Checkups                                         Food / Treats / Toys
Obedience Classes                                                             Leash & Collar
Emergency Veterinary Care                                                City License
Flea Control / Heart Worm Medication                               Bedding / Dog House

REMEMBER IT TAKES 2-4 WEEKS FOR A NEW PET TO
ADJUST TO YOUR HOME AND FAMILY.

DON’T EXPECT YOUR NEW DOG/PUPPY TO BE PERFECT –
HE CERTAINLY WON’T EXPECT YOU TO BE!
